Why Naples gutters overflow in summer
From June through September Naples gets the bulk of its 55 inches of rain, often in afternoon storms that drop an inch in under an hour. A gutter that is half blocked can handle a drizzle and fail completely under that load. Water backs up, goes over the front edge, and lands where it does the most harm: on the pool cage, against the wall, into the beds at the foundation. The blockage builds through the spring when the live oaks drop, and the palms add fronds and seed year-round. Clearing in May or early June, before the first big storm, is the whole point.
